Helping Children During Transition
This one day course is a powerful resource for both adopters (potential and actual) and foster carers who wish to gain skills in helping children during transition.
Course objectives:-
Delegates will learn the following:-
- Skills to assist settling into a new placement
- Developing belonging.
- Promoting attachment
- Practical strategies to manage distress
- Establishing routines
- Managing food problems
- How to resolve common behavioural difficulties
- Introducing the child to extended family
Learning Outcomes:-
Delegates will leave the course with extended skills and confidence to manage many routine difficulties that are sometimes found at the beginning of placement. A variety of learning methods will be used included case studies and group discussion. The day will be challenging, informative and fun. There will also be opportunities to seek advice on specific areas relating to helping children during transition.
Venue
The course will take place at Christine Tizzard Psychology based close to Chichester, West Sussex. Chichester is served by a mainline rail station with Direct links to London Victoria. The Training centre is located on the main bus route.
Tea and Coffee will be available throughout the day. There are places to enjoy lunch close to the venue, alternatively you are welcome to bring a packed lunch.
