A one day course specifically designed for mediators. Family Mediators are adopting an increasing role in working with children. It is crucial that effective skills are developed to provide safe and non- harmful consultations with children. Harm is a multi-layered concept that frequently occurs unintentionally as a result of a lack of knowledge of children’s cognitive processes. This introductory course provides expert guidance of how to work in a non-directive way with children and how to identify and reduce the potential for distress.

The content focuses on managing sensitive issues with children; this may be matters concerning separation, placement issues or wishes and feelings.

The input focuses on gaining and giving information in a manner that does not increase children’s anxiety and even unknowingly raise the potential for the development of issues.

A variety of mediums will be used during the day.
