Our Assessment Process

Step 1: Pre-Assessment Information & Initial Consultation

Once you decide to proceed, we will send you a welcome pack containing:

✔ A detailed overview of the assessment process
✔ A pre-screening questionnaire
✔ A list of any supporting documents required

A member of our clinical team will then arrange a telephone or video call to review your background information, discuss your concerns, and answer any questions. This helps determine whether a full assessment would be beneficial at this stage.

Step 2: Observational Assessment (ADOS-2) – In-Person

This session takes place at one of our assessment hubs, where a clinician will:

✔ Discuss your developmental history
✔ Observe your communication, interaction and behaviours using a structured assessment tool

This session typically lasts 1–2 hours.

Step 3: Diagnostic Interview (ADI-R) – Remote

A separate session will be conducted remotely with a clinician, focusing on:

✔ Communication and language
✔ Social interactions
✔ Patterns of behaviour and interests

For adults, this interview is usually completed with someone who knows you well, such as a parent, partner, or caregiver. This session lasts approximately 2–3 hours.

Step 4: Clinical Review & Diagnosis

Our expert team will review all assessment findings within one week. A detailed report will be provided, explaining the results, diagnosis and recommendations will be forwarded within 28 days.

Step 5: Feedback & Next Steps

After receiving your report, you will have a one-to-one session (via phone or video call) with a lead clinician to:

✔ Discuss the findings in detail
✔ Discuss the findings in detail

We encourage older children undergoing assessment to join this session, as it can help them understand their diagnosis and next steps.
